THE GRADUAL APPROACH IN THE QURANIC METHODOLOGY AND THE PROPHETIC METHODOLOGY

Abstract

Religion of Islam is religion of the mercy. And the mercy of Allah(s.w.t) is manifest throughout the Quran and the Sunnah. When we reflect the texts from the Quran and the Hadith, we recognize that the gradual approach(tadarruj) in the Shariah is one of the requirements of the vast mercy of Allah and His great wisdom. This study aims to manifest and set examples of gradual approach from the Ayah and the Hadith, and to explain the way of gradual approach in the Quranic methodology and the Prophetic methodology and the difference between the two methodologies and the wisdom behind them. The analytical inductive method has been adopted, based on tracking and interpreting the previous studies. This study clarifies the legitimacy of the gradual approach in the Quran and the Sunnah by mentioning the evident examples of the Ayah and the Hadith in which the gradual approach has been applied. This study also ascertains the wisdom of the gradual approach in the Shariah and the positive consequence expected from its practice in dealing with people. One of the most important results from this study is confirmation of legitimacy of the gradual approach and mention of examples for the gradual approach though the Quran and the Hadith, and clarification about domain of applying the gradual approach.
